Subject: READ!!!!! NEW GEARBOX - THE TRUTH - READ!!!!!!!
Hi Thomas,
I just read your post on the VRCC
board. Wasn't it kind of rude to implicate that someone else is a liar,
just because they had a different result than you? BigBF has been more
than gracious on the board. People keep asking his results and he's been
avoiding responding, pending some resolution with LaMont. He had
absolutely no improvement in gas mileage over stock. I personally rode
his bike; the rpm's throughout the speed range were significantly lower...
ranging from 2000 @ 65 to 3200 @ 105. I thought I would never run out of
gas, then suddenly @ 103, I hit reserve. I was dumbfounded. BigBF (who
weighs twice what I do) was riding one of my Valks and it didn't hit
reserve until 115. It may "not take a mathematician" to realize the gear
ratio will result in lower rpm's. However, mathematically speaking, there
are many other factors that would translate those lower rpm's to lower
fuel consumption. For instance, would you expect improved fuel economy if
you went 30 mph in stock 5th gear? Of course not! Because some of those
other factors are involved.
I noticed that you said Mario
installed your gears, does that mean you're located in Italy? Also, you
stated that you normally hit reserve at 95-103... that is the worst gas
mileage I've heard of a stock Valk getting (other than hot-rodding). I
once hit reserve at 75, but that was going 100-110 mph into a direct
headwind. Going 80, in normal circumstances, I hit reserve at about 140.
Anyway, Neither BigBF or I have any
reason to spread "untrue rumors." Documented facts are not rumor. I
would never presume to publicly voice any doubt about your results and
would appreciate the same courtesy from you.
Thanks, Connie aka f6gal
